The Mayan Artisans in Guatemala use traditional backstrap looms. They hand weave purses, bags and clothing using patterns which have been passed down through generations.
We also carry items that are made from Huipils, the traditional blouse of the Mayan women. These blouses last for twenty to thirty years before they are recycled into bags and quilts. Each consists of different colors and embroidery. The resulting bags are beautiful and truly one of a kind!
When buying items from the Mayan Artisans, you are giving hope and a fair wage to people in need. You are also helping to keep traditions alive.
